Emergency Management Business Continuity Manager

Catherine is the Emergency Management Business Continuity Manager at the Stony Brook University Police Department-Office of Emergency Management, working to minimize the impact of an emergency on a department and on the university as a whole.

Catherine joined the team in February 2022. She is an alumna of Stony Brook University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences. Additionally, Catherine is an alumna of the Saint Louis University John Cook School of Business, holding a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science (MS) in Sustainability from Saint Louis University’s Center for Sustainability.

Catherine is a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) through the Disaster Recovery Institute, as well as a Certified Nonprofit Account Professional (CNAP). She has completed extensive coursework through Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) in research and investigation, and holds a Certificate in Global Collaboration through X-Culture.

Catherine also serves as an Emergency Manager in the New York Air National Guard, where she is trained extensively on response and recovery operations. She is a certified Air Force All-Hazards Responder, a Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Air Force trainer, a certified HAZMAT Technician, and certified in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). Catherine also serves as a Reservist for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the Logistics Cadre and has completed extensive studies through FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute.

Prior to joining the team at Stony Brook University, Catherine worked in both the private and public sectors, and brings a vast amount of diversified experience in the military, emergency and disaster management, supply chain management, financial planning, and business operations.
